BT AUTO-ID RFID ASSET TRACKING TO USE TECHNOLOGY BY OXLOC

OXFORD, Oxfordshire – OxLoc are working with  BT Auto-ID to supply self-powered, autonomous RFID/GPS/GPRS asset tracking hardware for BT’s latest RFID asset tracking solution “BT Auto-ID Lite”.

Ultra long-range active RFID tags and readers, supplied by Wavetrend, have been incorporated with GPS technology for location, GPRS/GSM for data communication and the OxLoc long life battery technology.  The hardware is self installed with its own internal battery source typically lasting around two years and reports to the robust BT Auto-ID platform, a web based system requiring no client side software.

OxLoc and BT Auto-ID have previously worked together on a project with one of the UK’s largest international construction companies to successfully prove the benefits of an entirely wireless asset tracking system.

Keith Dobson, CEO of OxLoc, commented: “We are delighted BT Auto-ID chose OxLoc as the hardware technology provider for this innovative solution in the rapidly growing RFID market.  OxLoc focuses on location and monitoring products which require no access to a power source and by combining this with active RFID it opens up many new applications such as the visibility of individual assets within containers and trailers.  BT have been addressing asset tracking issues with blue chip companies for many years, and are well placed to help address these new opportunities”

Tom Williams, COO of BT Auto-ID, said: “BT Auto-ID Lite is a self powered, autonomous, asset tracking and monitoring solution that will enable businesses to benefit from Radio Frequency Identification (RFID) technology, without having to commit to costly, large-scale adoption of larger projects.  OxLoc’s long life battery powered GPS technology helps ensure that our solution should appeal to a wider range of customers.”
