TECHNOLOGY TRANSFER FROM THE UNIVERSITY OF OXFORD

NO.5 JULY 2007

Technology Transfer is an international activity.

Tim Cook and Tom Hockaday travelled to Washington DC in May to present a seminar on the Oxford Model of University Technology Transfer at the US Library of Congress (see right).

David Baghurst travelled to Japan to present a wide range of innovative Oxford technologies to potential licensee companies and develop our activities with Japanese Universities (see below).

A cornerstone of Isis is our patenting activity, where we protect Oxford inventions with international patent applications.   Isis has featured strongly in a survey of biotechnology patent activity and Isis has been granted its 100th US patent (see below).

Oxford spin-out companies operate internationally: Natural Motion has been catching the attention of the games industry, including California based LucasArts, since attending E3 in Los Angeles (the world’s leading games trade show) last year; and Oxitec is trialling its pest control technology in the US.

All Isis business activities are thriving.  I wish you all a bright summer.

Yours

Tom Hockaday, Managing Director
