Single-site modified p450s - Isis Project No 3159
Isis Innovation, the technology transfer arm of the University of Oxford, releases Novel P450 Enzymes for oxidation of small chain organic compounds.
Marketing Opportunity
Current chemical oxidations are expensive and energy intense. The Oxford technology operates under mild conditions, is environmentally acceptable and provides high yields with high selectivity. Biocatalysis will become a major player in industrial oxidation as we move to a low carbon economy.
The Oxford Invention
Oxford Researchers have developed novel P450 enzymes for oxidation of small chain (C3 to C15) organics, which:
- Exhibit enhanced activity and selectivity
- Require only single-site modification of the natural enzyme
- Provide low-energy routes to speciality chemicals, such as flavours and fragrances.
Patent Status
This work is the subject of patent application, and Isis would like to talk to companies interested in developing the commercial opportunity that this represents. Please contact the Isis Project Manager to discuss this further.
