Magnetocardiogram (MCG) based heart screening device - Isis Project No 76131

Technology Source: Institute for Cybernetics, Kiev, Ukraine

Fast, accurate, fully non-invasive early stage diagnostics and monitoring solution for cardiovascular diseases.

Market Opportunity

Non-invasive, rapid and reliable diagnosis of heart diseases such as coronary artery disease (CAD) and patients with chest pain remains a clinical challenge. CAD and similar heart diseases are the most common cause of death in the UK, resulting in over 100,000 deaths each year. Current methods of detecting the presence and assessing the extent of CAD are expensive, invasive and sometimes risky.

The Invention

Scientists in Kiev, Ukraine have developed a magnetocardiography (MCG) based system, CardioMox™ for the non invasive diagnosis of cardiac conditions such as CAD, arrhythmias and blockages.

The diagnostic applications of the technology are diverse including:

  • Diagnosis of heart disease in “difficult-to-diagnose” patients with chest pain
  • More accurate screening of which patients should undergo more expensive or invasive examinations (MRI, angiograms, CAT scans)
  • Non-invasive monitoring of post infarction critical care patients
  • Detection of the arteries that show narrowing and may cause ischemia in the heart
  • Detection of underlying abnormalities that cause arrhythmias when the patient is asymptomatic
  • Detection of foetal heart abnormalities

Project Status

Clinical trials have already been performed in several European countries. The system is in clinical use in Ukraine. UK Clinical trials are in planning and preparation phase. The team are looking for partners that would help the project move to the next stage of marketing and adoption. For further information, please contact us using the link below.
