New Zealand Ministry of Health Adopts Oxford Orthopaedics PROs for its Pilot PROMs Program

22 June 2010

Isis Outcomes is pleased to announce that the New Zealand Ministry of Health has recently concluded a licence to use the Oxford Hip Score (OHS) and Oxford Knee score (OKS) in their pilot PROMs program. The PROMs Pilot Program is due to complete in March 2011 and will assess the effectiveness of all Hip and Knee replacement surgical interventions throughout New Zealand.

Dr. David Churchman of Isis Outcomes said “The adoption of the OHS and OKS by the New Zealand Ministry of Health follows the decision by the Department of Health in the UK to use the same PROs in the national PROMs program throughout the NHS. We continue to see the uptake of the Oxford ortho paedic scores in such nationwide programs by public and private healthcare providers as well as National Joint Registries. These users are deploying the Hip and Knees scores as well as some of the newer joint scores, such as the Shoulder and Elbow scores to assess the outcomes of shoulder and elbow surgery.”

The Oxford Hip and Knee Scores and other Oxford PRO measures are available from Isis Outcomes.

Isis Outcomes is an activity within Technology Transfer at Isis Innovation Ltd, dedicated to the provision and support of the highest quality PROs for healthcare providers and the pharmaceutical industry.
