Technology Transfer from the University of Oxford

Oxford BioSensors Ltd

Oxford BioSensors Ltd went into receivership in 2009.

Oxford BioSensors were developing technology for handheld diagnostics for lifescience applications.

The technology allowed a number of chemicals to be quantitatively measured in less than a minute on a disposable, low cost, test strip. A hand held instrument reads and records the data. The measurements could be in blood or other fluids, and examples of applications would include:

  • A test strip for overdose victims to determine which of the top ten drug candidates are present in the person's blood.
  • An instant test to check for presence of drugs abuse.
  • Clinical medicine checks for cholesterol, heart attack markers, liver and kidney disease markers, etc.
