Pharminox Ltd
Pharminox was founded in January 2002 as a private, Oxford University
spin-out company, committed to addressing unmet needs in cancer therapy
through small molecule oncology research and development. Since its
formation in the company has significantly expanded its portfolio and
attracted key people with a track record of success in the discovery
and development of new cancer treatments.
Company History
January 2002 — Company established
- Spin out from Oxford University to exploit novel platinum complexes discovered by Professor Gordon Lowe of the Dyson Perrins Laboratory, Oxford.
- Founding investors include IP2IPO and University of Oxford
December 2003 — Preclinical portfolio expanded
- Pharminox licences worldwide development and commercialisation rights to Quinols from Cancer Research Technology (CRT) and enters into research collaboration with University of Nottingham and CRT
January 2004 — Board Strengthened
- Professor Malcolm Stevens OBE appointed as Chief Scientific Officer
- Sue Barrowcliffe appointed to the board
June 2004 — Additional funds raised
- 1.5million private funding round completed
July 2004 — Pharminox gains access to first clinical project
- Pharminox sign an option agreement with CRT, which provides a 12 month exclusive option to licence the global development and commercial rights to Phortress.
November 2004 — Board further strengthened
- Peter Worrall appointed as Chief Executive Officer
