Based on technology developed by Professor Chris Dobson in the area of structural modification of proteins, Zyentia's initial focus was on the development of modified human calcitonin, a bone density regulator used in the treatment of osteoporosis. The focus is now on the role of protein aggregates in amyloid diseases. The company's technology, however, has applications in a range of fields including improving the stability of existing peptides and proteins and the manufacture of new, improved therapeutics.
